Many new faces joined the student body at Kenesaw Public School this year. The new students come from many different places including Adams Central, Christ Lutheran, and Grand Island Senior High. Among the new students are Ali Mars, junior; Jessica Struss, sophomore; and Devon Burr, Kelli Mack, Amanda Katzberg, Tanisha Baade, and Zach Christensen, freshmen.
Aliandra Mars came to Kenesaw from Grand Island. Ali describes herself as energetic, and she loves to joke around. The biggest difference Ali has had to adjust to would be the size difference between Grand Island Senior High and Kenesaw. She said that at her old school it was packed and you definitely didn't know all the students and teachers like you do at Kenesaw. She loves the new friends she has made so far and thinks the students here are funny and a blast to be around. Her favorite class is World History, which is taught by Mr. Einrem. She views it is the best class ever!
Coming from Adams Central to Kenesaw High School was a major shock to new student Jessica Struss. "There are way fewer students her than there were at Adams Central. I feel like I can breathe without being overly crowded," explained Jessica. Jessica likes Kenesaw High School for its friendly atmosphere and for the fact that she knows everyone and everyone knows her. Jessica is aspiring to be in the medical field after high school. In her free time Jessica enjoys hanging out with friends and just having fun.
Zach Christensen is another new student at Kenesaw High School this year. He came from St. Paul to live with his aunt here in Kenesaw and attend school. Zach enjoys the sports Kenesaw has to offer and the many new friends he has made. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Engelhardt because of her nice personality and for the way she teaches. When Zach is not in school, he loves to hang out at his friends' houses and go to work.
Tanisha Baade moved from Grand Island to Kenesaw this year. When asked about the main difference between her former school and Kenesaw High School, Tanisha -- most of the other students -- noted that it is the size difference. One of the things about Kenesaw she likes would be the smaller class sizes, which helps her to better understand what is being taught. Mr. Schnitzler is one of Tanisha's favorite teachers here at school. "He is always joking around and is never in a bad mood," explained Tanisha.
Devon Burr transferred to Kenesaw High School after completing his schooling at Christ Lutheran. He thinks the biggest difference between Christ Lutheran and Kenesaw is that Kenesaw is a public school where Christ Lutheran is a Christian school. Devon likes the fact that he gets a new teacher every period, and that he doesn't have to sit in the same classroom all day like he did at Christ Lutheran. Mr. Budnick, the computer teacher, is Devon's favorite teacher because Mr. Budnick is easygoing and fun to learn from. He likes to spend his free time playing his Xbox 360 and hanging out with friends.
Kelli Mack also joined Kenesaw Public School after completing her schooling at Christ Lutheran. She follows in the footsteps of her older brother, Kevin, and sister, Sarah, who also came to Kenesaw from Christ Lutheran. Kelli looks forward to coming to school everyday to see and visit with all her new friends she has made here at Kenesaw. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. South. "Mrs. South is the best teacher because when we have fire drills, she takes very good care of me, since I'm the only one in her study hall," exclaimed Kelli. On the weekends Kelli likes to hang out with her sister and watch movies.
Another student coming from Christ Lutheran is Amanda Katzberg. Amanda likes Kenesaw because when she has been able to make many new friends and gets to go to school with her sister Sharmayne like she used to at Christ Lutheran. Amanda's favorite class is World History. She loves to learn about the past and different countries. The best teacher, in her opinion, would have to be Mr. Budnick because he is nice and fun to be around. In her free time Amanda likes to ride horses, hang out with friends, and go hunting.
The Kenesaw School hopes to offer the new students a friendly environment that offers them the challenges and discipline that enables them to become life-long learners and contributors to our global society.
