David Kucera - K-12

Hi there, everyone. Financial aid is on everyone's minds as our seniors begin to narrow down their college selections. Applying for financial aid is not difficult if you are prepared. The following are a few easy to follow steps that could help you determine how you'll pay for college.

Your first step will be to determine your resources. The following are a few helpful web sites that you can go to and get valuable information concerning scholarships.

  1. www.educationquest.org
  2. www.fafsa.ed.gov
  3. www.christianconnector.com
  4. www.petersons.com/finaid

Also, don't forget your local friendly counselor. I have put a packet of scholarships at this time. Each senior has already received this packet. Take some time and look over the list of scholarships and their criteria and if you or your senior would like an application either check out the scholarships web site or come to the counselor's office and pick them up.

Your next step will be to check with your prospective college or university and become aware of the financial aid opportunities they may offer. Below is a list of Nebraska State colleges (both public and private) and their web sites. Many colleges and universities offer scholarships opportunities to those students who have already applied and been accepted to their particular school. I hope this will allow me to do a better job of getting information into you and your students' hands. An important date coming up in January will be our Annual Financial Aid Night sponsored by Education Quest. Please mark on you calendars the date January 13, 2010. More information will be coming your way in December. Again, Thank You and have a great holiday season.
