In American Government class we are busy discussing what role political parties have in our government and what their functions are. Do you know what another name for the Progressive Party is? Ask a senior and they will give the answer.
The American History class is just starting to learn about the women's suffrage struggle and the people who helped to get women the right to vote. Early lessons were involved with the War of 1812, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. Who wrote The Jungleand what it was about? Ask a junior and get your answer.
Ancient civilizations of China, India, and Japan are some of the cultures being discussed in World History class. The different dynasties and leaders involved with these are related to the dynastic cycles of most of the early peoples and civilizations of the world Shah Jahan was an important leader in India and was responsible for the building of what architectural world wonder? Seek out a freshman and find your answer.
The eighth graders are in the middle of discussion on the writing of that great document, the Constitution. Earlier in the year, the students were busy with making power point presentations on some of the influential early leaders of the War for Independence. What state was the first to ratify the Constitution? Pick an eighth grader, and they will give you the answer.
The geography class just finished a chapter on Mexico and introduced themselves to the areas of the Caribbean, South America, and Central America. The kids filmed their own version of a news program in Mexico, complete with their own commercials and human interest stories.
