The Power of Music

Imagine having the power to unite the world. That doesn't seem possible, considering how every single person is unique, and a lot of people don't agree on a variety of subjects. There is one thing, though, believe it or not, that seems to bring people together.

Music has the power to unite those who will differ on anything and everything else. It can influence a whole generation, thus it is a "great uniter." Music is also very valuable in the school system. It makes individuals work together as a team to create a song. If the individuals don't work together then the song will sound like useless noise instead of harmonious music-an example of how it is a great uniter.

Along with establishing a sense of teamwork, music can help individuals excel in academics such as reading, memorization, and even mathematics. The students at Kenesaw not only seem to enjoy playing music together. Some students at Kenesaw even have their own bands outside of school. Reed Hanke and Seth Campbell are members of a band called A Plague Filled Sky, and Jesse Dassinger is a remember of Anavenium. Both of these bands play rock music.

The high school band includes 38 very talented musicians, and the choir has 26 members who all contribute to the wonderful music program here at Kenesaw.  Mr. Arrowwood, Kenesaw school's music teacher, conducted the high school band and choir in concert on Thursday, December 10, and he directed the elementary students in their Christmas music program on December, 14. The band often plays "pep band" for most of the home sporting events, and the "marching band" participates in events such as Harvest of Harmony, and parades in Minden and Kearney.
