Volleyball season wrap-up
by Coach Kroos
February 01, 2010
The volleyball season was full of ups and downs. We finished on an up beat even though we lost in the first round of districts. Our season started in July and ended on such a sad note in November. I can say as their coach that I was proud and glad to see all the development of our volleyball team over the season. This includes freshman, who made great strides to the seniors who might not have had a whole lot of playing experience to filling the void left from the season before. We had a tough schedule that included playing at least ten ranked teams at one point; we even played the state champion and runner-up for D-1. We played those teams to points where the ball rolled our way, and we won the games. We are sad to say goodbye to seven seniors who worked very hard over the last six years to make themselves competitive volleyball players.
With saying good-bye we also get to welcome in new players. We have lots of holes to fill and with hard work in the off-season we will see a new competitive group on the floor next year. This season also began the building blocks to making a great volleyball tradition at Kenesaw.
This year also in Kenesaw we saw the establishment of starting youth volleyball. This was a great way for the younger girls to get involved and learn about the game of volleyball. I think that this will play a huge role in us becoming a great volleyball program. I want to thank Julie Schnitzler and the parents for giving the elementary girls the opportunity to play volleyball and learn the basic skills. We are looking forward to having some more volleyball camps in the summer for girls elementary age all the way through high school. Please watch the newsletter in late spring for more information about upcoming volleyball camps. Let's all keep working together to build a great volleyball tradition here at Kenesaw.
