The boys basketball team has met multiple challenges-a new coach with new philosophies and techniques, and a younger team. The boys have handled these challenges very well. The Blue Devils won over Wilcox-Hildreth (58-44), (50-490 and Harvard (59-25). They defeated Franklin (49-35) for their first win in the new gym. Jeremy Shurigar scored the first points in the new facility in the last five minutes of the first quarter.

On the downside, the team lost to Lawrence-Nelson (53-57), (39-68); Giltner (22-43); and Elm Creek (44-46). After Thursday nights's competition with Deshler, the fourth seeded Blue Devils will begin Twin Valley Conference competition at home Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against Silver Lake.

Coach Einrem offered some insight on the season. "The atmosphere in the new gym last Friday night was amazing and the kids got a boost of energy from the excitement of the crowd," said Einrem. "Sometimes to succeed, you need to find something to hold on to, something to inspire you. The atmosphere last Friday night gave us that and the kids responded to it."
