Though Saturday, February 20, marked the end of the boys' regular season basketball games with a loss to Clay Center (34-44), the Blue Devils went into sub-district D1-9 competition determined to extend their season one more game at a time. The Blue Devils defeated Amherst (53-51) on Tuesday night. The win pushed their record to 8-11 before they met Loup City in the finals of the sub-districts at Kearney Catholic High School. Other recent wins have been over Franklin (49-35) and Red Cloud (56-34); recent losses were to Deshler (68-39), Silver Lake (41-37), and Sandy Creek (77-50).
After his first season with the Blue Devils, Coach Einrem had quite a bit to say. "This year has been a great experience for me so far. The kids are great, and my two assistants have been wonderful. We have tried to be very positive with the kids this year, and they have responded with good work ethic and learning attitude. Usually the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. I think, for the most part, we have done that." said Coach Einrem.
