Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated by couples and singles all around the world. But where did this holiday originate and how do different people celebrate it? The history of Valentine's Day - and its patron saint - is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. Saint Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman traditions.
In order to celebrate Valentine's Day, many couples spend time together, occasionally enjoying dinner, such as Mrs. Bonnie Engelhardt and her husband Mike Engelhardt will be, hopefully, doing this year. "I anticipate spending the day working as usual--and at night being at the girls' sub-district basketball tournament, if that is when Kenesaw plays. If not at the games, (however); my husband and I will, perhaps, go out to eat." Other couples might stay inside and watch a romantic comedy, such as Zane Woodman's favorite, The Ugly Truth, or go out for a spontaneous night. Makaleigh Nilson says the most romantic night of her life so far was totally unplanned. "Zane sang for me. It was "God Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts.
